Thank you Mr.Goodman we enjoyed your visit.
Dogs don't belong at restaurants.. just my opinion
We drove out to this BBQ because we were going stir crazy with all this Covid nonsense. BBQ was great, but the kids loved seeing that big bear with a face mask fashioned around it's big snout! Just having a normal, dine in experience was such a treat for all of us. Thanks for being open y'all!!
BBQ is okay, service is great. The staff are very nice. Helps they have Huey running around greeting folks.
We stopped here for ribs. I had the rib plate with coleslaw and red beans. The ribs were absolutely delicious! They were meaty and tasty. Highly recommend this place if you want good barbecue.
The meat was good but I've had better. The sauce was okay but not even close to Dozier's in Fulshear Texas.
Fantastic BBQ! When you're driving by, the place might not look like much, but the minute you walk inside you can tell it is the real deal. Friendly workers, good food, I recommend the brisket because it's some of the best I have ever eaten!
First time eating here and really good bbq!! Potato salad was delicious, the okra was fried just right and the staff are super nice and friendly!! Love it!!
Ribs so moist they practically fell off the bone. So good
Great barbecue, friendly people, fantastic banana pudding. We'll be back.
As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere grabs you. Owner Dan is friendly and greets you with a smile and he’s incredibly generous. He grabbed his guitar and played a song. We had the brisket, sausage, ribs, Mac n cheese, beans and potato salad. It was all extremely delicious- try Barbara Bush’s banana pudding! We will definitely be back again. Thank you, Mr. Dan for a memorable and fun experience for us and our South Carolina visitors!
Wow. Just incredible barbeque. The owner was incredibly nice and helped us pick options. We dropped an unannounced group of 15 on them and they hooked us up. The brisket, sausage and ribs were just amazing and the Apple pie was da bomb.
Great hidden BBQ place, a must try beef+ green beans+ fresh fries
By far the best bbq in Texas in my opinion. Sausage, chicken, brisket, and of course the stuffed potatoes are just phenomenal. I haven't had one thing here I didn't love. Great people, And atmosphere. Just walking up will make your mouth water. Will continue to come back as long as they're here. Well worth any drive. Just can't say enough good things about the owners. Always make you feel like family. We go at least once a month if not more.
Absolutely some of the best BBQ in the state! Might not look like much to some from the road but ITS A BBQ joint and it’s delicious. Super tender brisket and good sausage. I’ve eaten at what the “experts” call the best in Texas and Hill Country is way above just about all of them!
It's worth 10$ , it was great chop beef sandwich.
Wow! The best brisket I've ever had. We were traveling through to College Station for a game and stopped for lunch. The folks there were great and very friendly. We tried the ribs as well and they were very flavorful. The brisket cut with a fork and pretty much fell apart as you ate it. Sides were great, fresh okra and mac and cheese.I would highly recommend! 5 stars.
Delicious! I had the pork sandwich and Mac and cheese. I wish I could have eaten more as food was best I had in all of the south. Great place, one of those places when you are on the road you wished you lived near or it was down your street. The joint was empty but nice people behind the counter. This is what I was looking for in Texas BBQ.
We stopped here on a whim passing through on a work trip, and were NOT disappointed. The food was incredibly fresh and delicious, the staff and owner were super friendly. Probably the best brisket sandwich I have ever eaten!
Hands down some of the best bbq ive ever had and just when i thought it couldnt get any better the banana pudding was super delicious im definitely coming out here next time im in town!!
With the emphasis on "Country", this rodeo-themed cafe really is in the countryside, off Hwy 6. The decor is rustic with a huge stuffed bear in the middle of the dining area, walls plastered with rodeo photos, presumably of rodeo stars, and a seasoning of antlers for a bit of hunting-lodge atmosphere. There weren't many choices for lunch, pork ribs, beef ribs, and brisket, all outdoor fire barbequed, with sides like potato salad and coleslaw, but the brisket was plentiful and good, as you'd expect from Texas beef. Order and pickup is at the counter, with no table service. The staff wasn't particularly heart warming, but I simply took them as quietly reserved country folk. There's a big gravel parking lot out front. Be careful pulling in and out, as the traffic zips by at alarming speeds on the uncontrolled highway.
My husband and I stopped on the way to a friend's. Both orders stuffed baked potatoes. They were huge. We could have easily split one. Service was prompt, but could use a little more interaction with customers and the building could use a good update.
This little hidden gem was so good! We were on our way home from College Station and nothing for miles was opened. We stopped in and got lunch. The food was so good!! The amount of food we got for the price was unbeatable! Definitely a new spot when we are out towards College Station!
I've been passing this place for decades and I've never stopped until now. The brisket is cut thick and only comes one way but it's pretty good. The ribs however are fantastic along with the sausage. The coleslaw is how I like it and the mac-n-cheese is great. The banana pudding is probably the best I've had. I'd rate this place 5 stars if the price wasn't straight highway robbery. The owner was out chopping the meat and was very dynamic while making recommendations. Overall you should stop if you want BBQ because by the time you find something better you'll spend the difference in gas.
Great BBQ! Great service! You might even get some guitar picking and singing at you table sometimes.
I had the brisket, the chicken...also the banana pudding was amazing. I am usually intimidated to go out as a mom with little kids but this place had a great entertainment atmosphere for the kids inside as well as outside. The food was beyond great, people are very sweet, and we enjoyed ourselves.
Not the nicest people here. Everyone seemed irritated and mad. We were being rushed when ordering our food even though there was no line or anyone else behind us. This was our first time here, so it would have been nice to get familiar with the menu. We were barely looking at the menu and already being asked what we wanted and when we were trying to decide the girl taking our side orders kept rolling her eyes with an irritated face. Food was really bad. Brisket was very fatty and whatever meat you could get was overcooked and tough. Ribs were nothing but fat. The only good thing was the sausage. After the bad service and vibe we noticed flying ants on the window which kept falling into my food. Save your money !! The food was great! My family and I shared the Hill Country Special and left stuffed. The man here (I think the owner) was very sweet and performed a song for the restaurant while we were here. Definitely coming back!
The food was really good and so worth every penny you pay! It is definitely worth trying at least once. We got the stuffed potatoes and chopped beef sandwich, Mac n cheese, and banana pudding. The BBQ sauce is more on the sweet side but good. Overall great atmosphere, nice staff, and great food!
First time I've visited Hill Country BBQ, and wow... it was worth every penny! Got honey-glazed ribs, sliced brisket, and sausage. Brisket was cooked/smoked for 15 hours and delicious. Ribs were the best I've ever had. Can't wait to go back!
Fantastic barbeque. The staff said everything is good and they're right. Banana pudding great also. Well worth stop.
The owner, Dan Hill, was very hospitable and friendly. The food was delicious! I highly recommend this place. Thank you, MrHill, for taking us in the back and sharing your delicious meats with us. We enjoyed meeting you and hearing your stories about President Bush. We will be back as this was by far the best barbecue I’ve had.
This little BBQ joint has everything you're looking for in a true Texas BBQ restaurant. From the look, feel and of course the food. Dan the owner is out chit chatten' with the customers and building relationships. Thank y'all for your hospitality I love it! I run a steak house not far from him and I enjoyed my conversation with him. I went two days in a row! I couldn't get enough.
Friendly family owned business. Dan shared some of the history surrounding the restaurant and his love of music . Even stopped by the table and played his guitar. Best experience ever.
Saw the good reviews and we decided to pass up Bucees and check this place out. We regretted the stop. We greeted the young lady and she was dry, ask what we wanted....dont expect warm Texas welcome. A class in customer service who greatly help this place. Staff was on thier phones. Service was serious lacking and BBQ.... well it's nothing to write home about. First and last time.
Three meat. Sausage ribs and brisket. Next time I will just get ribs and potato salad
I had the BEST BBQ EVER at this place! Simply amazing! The owner is super friendly and makes you feel right at home! I’m from New York but live in Texas and had no idea what to order. So, he asked if we wanted a little bit of everything and boy, oh boy, let me tell you, the Ribs were juicy and tasty, the sausage was delicious and the brisket... WOW! I fell in love from the start when he greeted us; southern hospitality at it’s finest. Definitely taking my family to taste the BEST BBQ IN TEXAS. PERIOD.
Thank you Dan Hill! Stopped here on a trip from Austin to Houston, just looking for some dinner but this was unquestionably worth the detour off highway 290. We had a slab of delicious ribs with fantastic coleslaw and the most amazing BBQ sauce. Dan regaled us with stories about the pictures on the wall, his friends, and even played the guitar for us. One of the most memorable experiences we have ever had in Texas. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!
We stopped in here on a whim while heading to College Station and were greeted with a 'sample' of the honey BBQ ribs - and the sample was ginormous! We opted to let them prep us whatever and got a huge tray of brisket, ribs, sausage, pickles, onions and jalapenos. We also got Mac and cheese, baked beans and potato salad. Every bite was fantastic and the owner, Bill, regaled us with stories and even played a song for us on his guitar. Bottom line: great food, friendly people, absolutely worth coming back for!
Great price for bbq in TX
Good BBQ . My wife ordered a lean slied beef sandwich they gave her one with a lot of fat. They replaced it with a bigger one . Very nice people
Fantastic all around! Bbq is awesome and so are the sides. Hands down best fried okra ever had. Potato salad is amazing too! The friendly helpful servers and country atmosphere are top notch. The owner is usually there to greet you and make sure you are having a good experience.
